Empowering Lives

To fold the hands in prayer is well, to open them in charity is better
― French Proverb

DME foundation is responsible for the training of indigent people in universities and secondary schools.

The story of  the boy he is training in the secondary school presently captures the driving force behind his concern for people like him. He met him in Utako market in Abuja on a certain Sunday when he went to buy a few things.  The boy rushed to him and offered to help him carry the items he was buying. Of course, the boy’s service was for a fee. He looked at the boy and guessed he was not more than 12 years old. So he asked him why he was doing what he was doing and was told that he was gathering money for his secondary school fees. He was touched so he probed further. He established contact with him, later spoke with his parents and took over the payment of his school fees.

The story is similar for all the other people he has helped. The common theme, he was moved by a compelling passion to help those who feel dejected or loveless or in Frantz Fanon's words, "the wretched of the earth", and this is  derived from his own life changing experiences after the death of his mother.

While in the House of Assembly in Imo State, Nigeria, he was able to provide a cash capital to 100 very poor women, whose livelihood was either frying akara (bean cake), or selling meagre foodstuff ingredients in the market.  He has trained unemployed youths in different skills such as hairdressing, barbing, auto mechanic, welding, carpentry etc and helped them start their businesses. In addition, he was also able to provide 20  women with ladies motorcycles to uplift their social status by improving their mobility for business ventures. All which comes from a heart of compassion.
